NGO Tuna Forum Goals
Drive faster, more impactful change across global tuna fisheries:
- By defining focused priorities where we believe collective effort will have the greatest impact
- Through coordinated and collaborative effort among tuna-focused conservation NGOs and market actors across tuna supply chains, based on the belief that such aligned effort will result in greater impact over time
Therefore, our work centers on:
- Providing aligned guidance to market actors on policies and supply chain improvements they can support and implement
- Coordinated advocacy among NGOs and marker partners to tuna RFMOs and member countries to address corresponding policies and improvements
What is the NGO Tuna Forum?
An independently coordinated and funded forum of NGOs committed to engagement, with the goal of aligning on coordinated and collaborative efforts that:
- Identify priorities and provide advice for RFMOs and market actors on issues of importance where collective action is needed
- Create added value beyond the specific work of individual participating groups
The NGO Tuna Forum is an initiative requested by tuna-focused NGOs that seeks collective positions, asks and actions that can be leveraged across two primary audiences:
- Tuna RFMOs and their member countries
- Market actors across tuna fishery supply chains
